I already know that Avast! Free Antivirus has this thing where it prevents malware from disabling it. Can AVG 2012 do the same thing?
Chosen Answer:
Yes it does, to put things simply. All the top security products have some type of anti-deactivation technology built in. Whether all of them are [or ever will be] 100% effective is another matter.

there is only one issue with your question. if you have downloaded AVG free edition 2012 than you have downloaded a virus. anti virus companies aren’t like car companies, they wont release an anti virus before the year its supposed to be out is here. a lot of smart virus programmers will name their virus after an anti virus so you wont stop the installation.
yes that actually rouge virus which is fake antivirus and its very danger only paid antivirus like Eset or Kaspersky or Norton etc can protect you from it.
Malware can do anything, as of today does not exist a 100% secure solution to fight new malware.
I would recommend to have installed in your PC these security software:
SuperAntispyware to scan for spyware and other threats:

Exe Radar to monitor any process that runs in the system:

Avast Antivirus to have a good antivirus protection:
