Want to know how AVG Antivirus stacks up and if it is a good one to use on my home pc??
Chosen Answer:
AVG is one of the Worst AVs, if you are willing to pay for anti-virus software than Spyware Doctor 2010 is unbeatable, the best free anti-virus is Avast 5 miles above any other free AV.

AVG must be good. I use it, and I know a lot of other people that use it. Everyone to their own choice.
I would never allow avast to be on my computer. I tried It once, that was it for me.

Yes, very good. If you download it from download.com you can read the editor and user reviews, that’ll give you more insight.
Although I use Avast Anti-Virus (also free) and I rate this higher. It’s a very neatly designed easy to use program with regular updates and good detection and file handling. Unusually it also has a root kit. Not all anti-virus progs have this, and the nastiest viruses deploy a root kit, so that a virus comes back again and again.
I run it with superantispyware, which rates high. But if the proof is in the pudding, since I’ve had this setup I’ve been virus/malware free.
Yes, it is pretty good, but nothing free is perfect. What I’ve been doing is using AVG free, and also scanning my PC periodically to ensure I am free from viruses. There are tons of free scan sites out there, here is the one I use. The seem to have the latest and greatest free stuff. It has both free virus protection downloads, and free scans.
Hole this helps,

Its all a matter of opinion. I use Avast , I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
